Mano Le Tough - Changing Days

Over the past few years, Mano Le Tough has become one of the shooting stars of the international dance music scene. His impact has been so great that Kristian Beyer of Âme claimed recently in an interview that: "Thanks to Mano Le Tough, I have no fears for the future of house." And not just Beyer, the entire Innervisions gang including Âme and Dixon have become fervent supporters of Mano Le Tough's warm and melodic, yet driving sound. Niall Mannion as Mano is known to his parents, is originally from Greystones, a seaside village near Dublin, Ireland. After an eclectic musical youth and a move to Berlin, Mannion first popped up on the electronic music radar in 2009 with an ep on legendary disco Viking Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label. All of his great experiences as a musician and artist culminate now in Mano Le Tough's first long player "Changing Days" on Permanent Vacation. Fully aware that the album format is still the most important statement of a musician, Mano succeeds in this field with flying colors by not falling into the obvious traps of making a "dance" album with 10 songs that all seem to sound that same. Similar to his labelmate and buddy John Talabot, Mano manages to expand his stylistic palette to more than "just" dance or club music. Instead he creates his own distinct sound and musical vision with bittersweet melodies and atmospheric moods that should appeal to ravers and more pop trained ears alike.

Alessandro Diga - Betelgeuze

You could't guess that Alessandro Diga is coming from Holland. At least, not from his artist name. He actually has a really Dutch name in real life. But you recognize the Dutch tracktitles from his releases. 
Most of his tracks are a combination of deep house en techno, but this track 'Betelgeuze' is a fine piece of electronica that a really really like.

Petrichor - Some Bara

Glasgow based producer Petrichor (aka Simon Stokes) returns to Soma with the follow up to his excellent debut ‘On Tides’ with the deep and thoughtful ‘Some Bara EP’. Continuing in the shape of the previous release, Petrichor has crafted 3 very unique tracks that are saturated in emotion.

Soma Bara is the title track with a perfect melody of plucked synths working their way in over shuffling drum patterns, all taken deeper with perfect low end and sequenced with a very live feel to it. This is definitely a journey with Petrichor at the helm.

Album of the Week #009





Groj is Kevin Jamey from Montreal, Canada.

Groj is a virtually unknown electronic musician. He currently resides in Montreal and has both a French and Anglo background. He grew up in Grenoble and Sydney. He spends his days working in a psychology laboratory and his nights making music in his bedroom. He signed his debut EP ‘Edlothia’ with label ‘klangwelt’. 
Later he started his own label to release his own music on Box Records. After his first album "Promised Land" that was more ambient orientated, now he returns with his second album "Playmorium". This album is totally different, because he returned to his techno side of productions. But still with lots of warm melodic atmospheres. With this album he proves, that he is very diverse and is not limited to only one genre.

Sascha Braemer took notice of his talent and as a result Joscha released his EP “Soul Motion” at the Berlin Label “WHATIPLAY”. Soul Motion – four warm, harmonic dancefloor-tracks which tend to big emotions. It’s almost impossible to choose a favourite among them. 'Sweet Tension' could be it.

The history of the project originates in 2008 when two DJs of Ivan Rayt and Igor Born having united the efforts, wanted to deduce the studio creativity on professional level. A track behind a track they gained popularity and respect in a circle of judges of intellectual sounds.

Like many electronic artists, Ryan Lee West aka Rival Consoles spent his early years experimenting with IDM, glitch and dance, but one consistent element in his musical journey has been his desire to create a more organic, humanised sound. Through these experimentations he has found a process of producing electronic music that feels close to this urge. Restricting himself to a small selection of analogue equipment, West engages his hands directly with instruments and is very selective about what he then records into the computer. He reduces musical parts even further, leaving enough space around the sound for it to breath.
